When to Refer

WTVS accepts referrals from veterinarians for specialty evaluation, advanced diagnostics, procedures, and treatment that may benefit from specialist expertise or advanced technology. Referrals may include patients requiring internal medicine evaluation, advanced imaging, specialty surgery, oncology services, minimally invasive procedures, or other specialty care available through WTVS. How to Refer

WTVS is currently operating as a mobile specialty service and will continue using our existing Timeless referral system until our new Lubbock specialty center opens in early 2027. Veterinarians should submit the referral along with relevant medical records, laboratory results, and diagnostic imaging through our current referral process.

Refer a Patient

When the new specialty center opens, WTVS will transition to a new referral workflow. Referring practices will receive information about the new process before the transition.

Our Referral Partnership

WTVS is designed to complement—not replace—the care provided by the patient’s primary veterinarian. Following a specialty visit or procedure, WTVS will communicate relevant findings, diagnostic results, and recommendations to the referring veterinarian. Whenever appropriate, patients will return to their primary veterinary team for continued care and long-term management. If additional specialty evaluation or treatment is recommended, WTVS will coordinate those services in communication with the referring veterinarian.

Referral-Only Care

WTVS does not provide routine primary care and does not operate as a general veterinary practice. Pet owners seeking specialty care should first speak with their primary veterinarian about whether referral to WTVS is appropriate.

Emergency & Overnight Care

Our new Lubbock facility will operate as an outpatient specialty referral center and will not provide 24-hour emergency, ICU, or overnight hospitalization. Patients requiring emergency or continuous overnight care should be directed to an appropriate emergency or 24-hour veterinary facility.
