A new West Texas Veterinary Specialists outpatient specialty and advanced imaging center is coming to Lubbock in 2027.
Designed specifically for referral-based specialty care, advanced diagnostics, and outpatient procedures, our new center will expand access to advanced veterinary care for veterinarians and their patients throughout West Texas and the surrounding region.
For years, West Texas Veterinary Specialists has provided mobile specialty services throughout the region. Our new outpatient specialty center represents the next step in that mission — bringing more advanced specialty expertise, diagnostic capabilities, and procedures closer to the veterinarians, pet owners, and communities we serve.
Board-Certified Specialty Care
The new WTVS center will provide access to the region’s only board-certified veterinary specialists, with specialty expertise in:
Internal Medicine — led by Kirk Sears, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM)
Surgery — soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurologic procedures provided by rotating board-certified veterinary surgeons
Oncology — specialty consultation and outpatient chemotherapy
Our specialists will work collaboratively with referring veterinarians to provide advanced diagnostics, specialty consultation, and procedures while supporting continuity of care with each patient’s primary care veterinarian.
Advanced Imaging & Diagnostics
The new center is being equipped with advanced diagnostic technology designed specifically to support complex medical, surgical, and oncologic cases.
Services will include:
- 64-Slice Helical CT with 128-Slice Reconstruction
- Ultrasound
- Echocardiography
- Fluoroscopy
64-Slice CT with 128-Slice Reconstruction
Our new center will feature a 64-slice helical CT system with 128-slice reconstruction capability, providing detailed cross-sectional imaging for the evaluation of complex medical, surgical, orthopedic, neurologic, and oncologic conditions.
This advanced imaging capability will allow many patients throughout West Texas and the surrounding region to access high-level diagnostic imaging closer to home.
Advanced Endoscopy & Minimally Invasive Procedures
WTVS will also expand access to advanced endoscopic and minimally invasive procedures, including:
- Gastrointestinal endoscopy
- Tracheobronchoscopy
- Rhinoscopy
- Urethrocystoscopy
- Vaginoscopy
- Laparoscopy
- Fluoroscopy-guided procedures
These capabilities allow our specialists to diagnose and treat many conditions using minimally invasive techniques when appropriate.
A Referral-Only Specialty Center
West Texas Veterinary Specialists will remain a referral-only specialty center.
Our role is to work alongside primary care veterinarians by providing advanced diagnostics, specialty expertise, and procedures that may not otherwise be readily available in the region.
The referring veterinarian remains an important part of each patient’s care, and patients will return to their primary veterinarian for continued management whenever appropriate.
Bringing Advanced Veterinary Specialty Care Closer to Home
For years, veterinarians and pet owners throughout West Texas have often had to travel hundreds of miles to access certain advanced veterinary specialty services and diagnostic capabilities.
Our new Lubbock center is being designed to help change that.
By combining board-certified specialty expertise, advanced imaging, and outpatient specialty procedures in one referral-focused center, WTVS will be able to provide more advanced veterinary care here in the region we call home.
