In some cases, your veterinarian may consult with a board-certified veterinary specialist to help diagnose or manage a complex medical condition. At WTVS, this collaboration takes place entirely between your veterinarian and our specialist—meaning the specialist does not meet directly with pet owners.
Here’s how it works: your veterinarian gathers and provides the specialist with your pet’s medical history, physical examination, test results, imaging, and any other relevant information. The specialist carefully reviews these materials, may recommend additional diagnostic tests, and then prepares a detailed written report. This report includes diagnostic impressions, treatment recommendations, and guidance tailored specifically to
your pet’s needs.
Your veterinarian then discusses these findings and recommendations with you, answers your questions, and manages your pet’s ongoing care. This approach allows your pet to benefit from specialty-level insight and advanced medical knowledge while remaining under the care of the veterinarian you know and trust. It’s a seamless partnership designed to ensure your pet receives the best possible care—close to home and with minimal stress.
